Anime Battle (A Blessing to This Wonderful World vs. Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?)

Greetings Minna-san,
Guess what's up today...Well I guess you see from the title...Welcome to another Anime Battle here on World of Anime Girl. As always, I'll be your host, Anime Girl and I hope you'll enjoy today's battle. Make sure to leave your thoughts in the comments bellow, don't be shy. For those of you who don't know what I am doing here here is a short intro. Anime Battle is kind of a section here on my blog, where I pick two anime, that seem similar with the topic and discuss them in three rounds Plot and Story Line, Characters and Animation. In the end I pick one winner according to the previous rounds. I have already done a couple of them and if you want to see them click THIS LINK. Now, without further ado, ring free for A Blessing to This Wonderful World aka. Kono Subarashii ni Shukufuko (Link to Review) VS. Is it Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? aka Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru (Link to Review)

PLOT AND STORY LINE

Let's see...KonoSuba is a comedy, adventure, fantasy anime of 2016 that follows our protagonist Kazuma. After dying on a pathetic death the NEET finds himself sitting in front the beautiful goddess Aqua. Aqua gives him two options: to go straight to heaven or to reincarnate into a fantasy world where he'd get the chance to go on adventures and fight evil monsters. Being a shut-in gamer Kazuma picks the second option and drags Aqua along with him. Unfortunately, he realizes that his dream might not come true because the fantasy world is all but perfect. At least he has Aqua with him.

On the other side, we have again a adventure, fantasy and romance anime produced in 2015 that goes by the name Dungeon ni (I am not writing the whole thing). The main protagonist Bell, is a very optimistic young adventurer that makes a living by selling crystals he gets by defeating monsters in the dungeon. He is the one and only member of the Hestia family, formed by the goddess Hestia.

Now, when it comes to the story, they do have a couple of common points because they have one and the same setting-the MMO fantasy-game like background. The only points they differ from each other, KonoSuba is a comedy anime while Dungeon ni is more of a romance anime. KonoSuba is a parody on the core, and a very good one. I don't actually find comedy anime that funny but KonoSuba was hilarious. Dungeon ni had some funny-ish moments but concentrated more on the cute romance. Despite that, Konosuba doesn't have a great story that it follows whereas Dungeon ni has a really interesting one especially after the plot twist in the end (which is horrible because there still isn't a second season).
In conclusion, it is really hard to tell which one wins this round because I also take the level of entertainment into account. When it comes to that Konosuba was a little bit more entertaining but Dungeon ni certainly  had a better story to offer. I guess we'll have a TIE here.  (1:1)

CHARACTERS

The thing they have in common when it comes to characters is that the characters of neither anime have any depth in their personalities. Yet, KonoSuba did a little bit better job making each character unique and interesting in its own way. Just as I said in my KonoSuba review: you have a NEET Japanese guy reincarnated in a fantasy world, a useless and overly selfish goddess, a quite perverted and clumsy version of Saber from Fate and a little girl obsessed with huge explosions. Dungeon ni has good but ordinary characters, nothing special about them. So this round clearly goes to KONOSUBA.

ANIMATION AND STYLE

I really wasn't sure about this one, but after thinking a bit more about it...I think Dungeon ni takes the lead here. The animation of both anime is pretty much the same being really really good but I still think that Dungeon ni did a bit better job because of its style. It is the character and background design that I remember being really good and that was the thing that decided this round. DUNGEON NI catches up by winning this round.

CONCLUSION

We have a TIE! True that KonoSuba is a bit more entertaining due to the comedy factor but if you are looking for a little bit more depth in a story then Dungeon ni is an anime for you. Nevertheless, both anime are worth your time and that is exactly why this anime battle ends with a TIE!
See you in the next battle! 😜
